Newark, NJ — January 2026 — The Vascular Non-Invasive Laboratory at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, is proud to mark a significant milestone: 30 consecutive years of accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC), a national leader in promoting quality and safety through accreditation of diagnostic imaging and testing facilities.
In September 2025, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center also received a new three-year term IAC accreditation in Vascular Testing in the areas of Extracranial Cerebrovascular Testing, Peripheral Venous Testing, Peripheral Arterial Testing. This latest accreditation demonstrates the facility’s ongoing commitment to providing quality patient care in vascular testing.
“This milestone represents far more than longevity—it reflects our team’s dedication to precision, consistency, and compassionate care,” said Darrell K. Terry, Sr., MHA, MPH, FACHE, FHELA, President and Chief Executive Officer, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey. “For over 30 years, our vascular lab has upheld the highest national standards to ensure patients receive accurate diagnoses and the best possible outcomes.”
Early detection of life-threatening heart disorders, stroke and other disease are possible through vascular testing procedures performed within hospitals, outpatient centers and physicians’ offices.
The Vascular Laboratory at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center was founded in 1973 by vascular surgeon Bruce Brener, MD, now Director of the Vascular Center of RWJBarnabas Health; Director of Vascular Surgery, Fellowship Program, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. Newark Beth Israel’s Vascular Laboratory was the first in the state of New Jersey.
IAC accreditation is a rigorous process that evaluates every aspect of a vascular lab’s operations, including staff qualifications, physician oversight, imaging protocols, quality assurance, and patient care practices.
“We are extremely proud to recognize the 30-year, first group of accredited vascular testing facilities through the Gold Milestone recognition program. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff who have consistently demonstrated their commitment to delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care using accreditation as a quality metric,” said Mary Lally, MS, CAE, CEO of the IAC.
This anniversary underscores Newark Beth Israel Medical Center’s broader commitment to clinical excellence and reinforces its role as a trusted provider of advanced cardiovascular and vascular care in the community.
