Long Branch, NJ, January 13, 2026 – A Monmouth Medical Center (MMC) Clinical Care Technician (CCT) who was praised as embodying what excellence in patient care looks like has been honored with an excellence in caring award.

Amir Concepcion, CCT for the B5 Medical/Surgical Unit and a member of the CCT Domain Committee, has received the hospital’s Lotus Award, a quarterly award created to honor a CCT, Patient Care Associate or Technician or Mental Health Associate that has provided extraordinary, compassionate, patient/family-centered care. In nominating Amir, his colleagues and patients praised his dedication, kindness, leadership, and unwavering commitment to patient-centered care. They wrote:

“Being nominated multiple times, including in consecutive years, speaks volumes. It reflects the lasting and meaningful impact Amir has on his patients, colleagues, and the culture of our unit. Amir is the type of caregiver who quietly sets the standard for all of us. He goes above and beyond not because it is expected, but because it is who he is. Time and again, Amir steps in to support patients, nurses, fellow CCTs, and interdisciplinary team members—often without being asked and without seeking recognition.

Those who nominated Amir described him as a natural leader who brings people together and actively looks for ways to improve both patient care and unit workflow. From organizing initiatives that enhance rounding and efficiency, to implementing ideas that strengthen teamwork and connection, Amir consistently demonstrates initiative and follow-through.

What stands out most, however, is the way Amir makes people feel. Patients describe him as kind, compassionate, attentive, and respectful—someone who truly listens and ensures they feel heard and cared for. One patient shared how deeply they appreciated Amir’s care, referring to him as a true gentleman.

Amir is equally committed to his team. Whether mentoring new CCTs, staying late to support night shift, or finding thoughtful ways to boost morale during busy and stressful times, he continually puts others first. Even on heavy assignment days, Amir brings calm, positivity, and a genuine willingness to help wherever needed.

Another colleague described working with Amir as “a breath of fresh air,” a sentiment echoed repeatedly. He leads with humility, works with heart, and reminds us all why compassion and teamwork are so essential in healthcare.”

MMC’s CCT Domain introduced the Lotus Award as a way to highlight and appreciate the exceptional contributions made by members of the hospital’s care team. A Lotus Award recipient exemplifies MMC’s core values by consistently delivering compassionate, high-quality, and patient-centered care. These individuals go above and beyond expectations to support not only our patients and their families, but also the well-being of our community and care teams.
