Mar 3, 2025 Monmouth Medical Center Named to Newsweek World’s Best Hospitals’ List For Fourth Consecutive Year

Newsweek World's Best Hospitals 2025

Long Branch, NJ, March 3, 2025 – Monmouth Medical Center (MMC) has been named to the 2025 Newsweek list of World’s Best Hospitals, marking the fourth consecutive year the hospital has been on this listing, which recognized the best medical institutions among 2,400 facilities across 30 countries.

MMC is one of 412 U.S. hospitals – and among just six New Jersey hospitals, and the only one in Monmouth County named. This prestigious award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. In 2025 MMC was also recognized among just 307 U..S. hospitals and for a second consecutive time for an additional award, World’s Best Infection Prevention Hospitals, identifying which of the US hospitals featured in the national ranking were performing “above national average” based on six reported measures.

Developed using a complex methodology to ensure quality and validity, the Newsweek recognition provides a guide for patients and their families. The methodology includes four pillars, ranging from peer evaluations based on a survey of more than 85,000 medical experts and patient experience to quality metrics and Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) implementation. In 2025, the weighting of the hospital quality metrics pillar was increased within the scoring model to reflect the emphasis on hospital quality indicators. In addition, the weighting of the PROMs implementation pillar was increased.

Eric Carney“Recognition such as this, and our standing as the hospital with by far the most Leapfrog A’s for patient safety in the region and New Jersey’s first hospital to earn Magnet Recognition with Distinction® truly reflect the hard work and unwavering commitment of the entire Monmouth Medical Center team,” said MMC and Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus President and CEO Eric Carney. “We are so proud to be listed among the world’s best hospitals for a fourth consecutive year and to stand among a select group of hospitals that serve as exemplary role models for safety and excellence and for creating an environment of care that improves patient outcomes.”

Newsweek said that institutions on their list all share the quality of consistency – consistently attracting the best people, providing the best patient outcomes and implementing the most important new therapies and research. Newsweek notes that of all the hospitals in the world, relatively few can do all of these things year in and year out.

"Having reliable and accessible data is essential when selecting a hospital for treatment, and we hope this list is a trusted resource for patients, families and health care leaders seeking insights into the world's top medical institutions," said Newsweek Healthcare Editor Alexis Kayser.
