There is no doubt life can get stressful at times. Cathy Ponterio, BSN, RN, HNB-BC, HWNC-BC, CCAP, a holistic nurse practitioner at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, shares some suggestions to relieve stress and help us take a moment to relax.
Remember that we choose to live our lifestyles. It can help to think of your childhood and what you did for fun. Go with the flow of life. Don’t take yourself so seriously, and try to laugh throughout the day.
Do important things first, and make sure they are chosen by you. Sleep eight hours a night, you need energy to be able to cope with a fast-paced life.
Get active, it will move the energy around in your system. Walk, run, play, jump, skip, or dance.
Play peaceful music and listen. Light candles or the fireplace and sit with the warmth. Get a massage, take a bath, go to the beach, be in nature.
Be spontaneous! Try coloring, drawing or doodling. Write in a journal about your feelings and experiences.
And remember, to take a moment and just breathe.
