Robert Massaro, M.D., Vice Chair and Associate Program Director for Obstetrics and Gynecology, has been named MMC Physician of the Month for October. Presenting the award is Chief Medical Officer Kenneth Granet, M.D. They were joined for the presentation by Labor and Delivery Unit team members and hospital leadership, including, second from left, President and CEO Eric Carney.

Long Branch, NJ, November 2, 2023 Robert Massaro, M.D., Vice Chair and Associate Program Director for Obstetrics and Gynecology at Monmouth Medical Center (MMC), has been named October Physician of the Month. Dr. Massaro, a Matawan resident who joined the MMC Medical Staff in 1987, was praised as an incredibly caring individual who is always there to help. The Mother/Baby Nursing Team shared regrading Dr. Massaro, “There is a feeling of calm when he presents to an emergency — we know it will be o.k. Our psychological safety net, he validates the opinions of others and is approachable and humorous.”

Among the additional comments received in Dr. Massaro’s nominations were:

“Specifically we want to recognize Dr. Massaro’s outstanding efforts actively working alongside Nursing, Anesthesia, Attendings and Residents in the obstetrical simulations training drills. His collaborative leadership style and attention to detail have been instrumental in achieving our goals that promote positive outcomes for our patients and our health care team. Dr. Massaro stands tall among many of our colleagues. We are writing to express our sincere appreciation for his hard work and dedication to Monmouth Medical Center’s Women’s’ Services team. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do. We are proud to be part of your team.”

Dr. Massaro has been widely honored for his commitment to medical education and clinical teaching excellence, including receiving the Blockley-Osler Award, which recognizes excellence in the teaching of clinical medicine in the tradition of William Osler, M.D., who made teaching at the bedside customary in America.
