Belleville, New Jersey—December 6, 2022—Clara Maass Medical Center has been named a 2022-2023 High Performing hospital for Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy) by U.S. News & World Report, the highest award a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals for Maternity Care.
The High Performing designation recognizes maternity care as measured by factors such as newborn complication rates and is designed to assist expectant parents and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive maternity care. U.S. News’ methodology is based entirely on objective measures of quality, including C-section rates in lower-risk pregnancies, newborn complication rates, exclusive breast-feeding rates, early elective delivery rates and vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) rates, and other measures.
In arriving at the 2022-2023 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care, U.S. News evaluated nearly 650 hospitals throughout the nation that provide high-quality labor and delivery services for uncomplicated pregnancies. Fewer than half of the participating hospitals received a High Performing designation.
