Jul 1, 2021 Saint Barnabas Medical Center’s Pediatric Rehabilitation Services Now Offered by Children’s Specialized Hospital

West Orange, NJ – As of July 1st, 2021, Saint Barnabas Medical Center’s (SBMC) Pediatric Rehabilitation Services will now be managed by affiliate hospital, Children’s Specialized Hospital (CSH), an RWJBarnabas Health facility. This will serve as CSH’s 15th facility in the state of New Jersey, providing another access point to their nationally recognized pediatric rehabilitative care.

CSH will be overseeing the clinical and operational responsibilities of SBMC’s pediatric physical, occupational, and speech therapy programs, integrating the specialized services that CSH has been known for in the state and beyond for 130 years. Physical and occupational therapy services will include sensory integration therapy, neurodevelopmental therapy, post-concussion therapy, and Schroth Method for treatment of Scoliosis, Kyphosis and other spinal deformities. Speech therapy services will include individual speech-language therapy, pragmatic language groups, oral motor/myofunctional therapy, dysphagia therapy, behavior feeding therapy, and auditory training.

“We’re thrilled to bring CSH services to West Orange and that excitement is only elevated because we’re doing it alongside our affiliate hospital, Saint Barnabas Medical Center,” said Matthew B. McDonald, III, MD, President and CEO, Children’s Specialized Hospital. “Our vision is a world where all children can reach their full potential. In order to make that vision a reality we must continually enhance access to our innovative and individualized therapies and medical treatments. This site not only serves as an additional access point for our current patients and families, but as an introduction to a new community of patients and families who may need our services.”

“We welcome the team from Children’s Specialized Hospital to support the management of these pediatric rehabilitation programs. Our strong dynamic team of therapists will continue to provide the outstanding care our patients and their families are used to receiving and have come to expect. This is another excellent example of the hospitals of RWJBarnabas Health working together to strengthen our clinical integration to enhance access to world class health care for the communities we serve,” states Stephen P. Zieniewicz, FACHE, President and CEO at Saint Barnabas Medical Center.
