Community Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility in Toms River, New Jersey, celebrated the completion of a new rooftop helipad with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 11, 2021. For patients who require a higher level of care, the new helipad will speed up their transport. Previously, patients would need to be transferred via an ambulance to meet the helicopter crew in the park across the street, a process that could take 30 minutes. Patients are now one elevator ride away from their flight. The helipad is part of CMC’s Master Facility Plan, which will transform the hospital so that it is better positioned to care for the community for years to come.
