Sep 2, 2020 Monmouth Medical Center Names Chair of Radiology

Dr. Tejas Shinde, MDLong Branch, NJ – September 2, 2020 –  Holmdel resident Tejas Shinde, MD, has been named Chair of the Department of Radiology at Monmouth Medical Center.

Dr. Shinde, who joined Monmouth Medical Center in 2006, has served as interim Chair of Radiology since January.

Fellowship trained in MRI-Combined Body/ Neuroradiology/ Musculoskeletal (MSK) at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, and board certified in Radiology, Dr. Shinde has previously served as Director of MRI and MSK Imaging at MMC. In this role, he developed a core curriculum and lectures for Radiology residents and Orthopedic Surgery residents, streamlined screening processes to improve MRI patient safety and referring clinician satisfaction, and implemented multiple collaborative MRI programs.

He received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine, New York City, and completed his radiology residency at NYU Medical Center. An active researcher and member of MMC’s Medical Executive Committee, Dr. Shinde is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Monmouth’s team of highly qualified radiologists specializes in traditional diagnostic radiology as well as the most advanced interventional radiological procedures. In 2003, the department received one of the first CT (computed tomography) scan accreditations from the American College of Radiation (ACR) for safety and appropriate usage. In 2018, MMC’s latest MRI unit received ACR accreditation, assuring patients that the new equipment is of the highest quality and that the Radiology Department offers the most cutting-edge technology. The department was also among the first in Monmouth County to introduce both uterine fibroid embolization, an interventional radiology procedure that shrinks fibroid tumors by blocking their blood supply, and the area’s first coronary scoring program for the early detection of heart disease.
