Jan 6, 2020 Learn About New Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training on Jan. 21

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, is holding a free information session on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 5 p.m. to learn more about its new 10-week Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training©, which will begin in February. The session will be held at the hospital’s Somerset Family Practice located at 128 Rehill Ave., Somerville. Registration is required by calling 908-595-2332.

The 10-week training program, led by the hospital’s Diabetes Education Center, will help improve your relationship to food and activity. Reducing problem eating behaviors is associated with greater weight loss than diet and exercise alone.

Each week will focus on topics and activities that address the habits and patterns that have contributed to overeating and being overweight.

Topics will include meditation; hunger awareness; physical activity; nutrition; and inner wisdom/outer wisdom.
