Helpful Tips To Make Self-Care A Priority This Month

Continue to prioritize self-care this month. A few continuous acts of self-care can turn into healthy habits for the rest of your life.

Self-care is important because it is believed by many mental health professionals that caring for others begins with yourself. Just as on a plane you are supposed to put on your own oxygen mask first, in life and in health care, you can’t provide the most quality care you’re capable of if you don’t take care of yourself.

Continue your self-care journey with some of these tips:

  1. De-clutter your work space or your bedroom at home. Too much clutter can make us feel overwhelmed and subtract from focusing on one task.
  2. Spend at least ten minutes a day reading a book for pleasure – just ten minutes!
  3. Pack a healthy snack for work each day. This will minimize cravings and inclinations for junk food.
  4. Have a favorite funny video? Pull it up on your phone so you can laugh for a minute or two.
  5. Delegate one task on your to-do list to someone else.
  6. Plan something to look forward to this spring (weekend away, vacation, gathering, spa day, etc.).
