Ava B Ava’s Story: A Journey to Recovery

"I had the best therapists and dietician and team."

As a high school student battling an eating disorder, Ava found hope, healing, and a team that never gave up on her. Today, she’s sharing her story to remind others that recovery is possible and that no one has to face an eating disorder alone.

RWJUH Somerset’s nationally recognized Eating Disorders Program, part of RWJBarnabas Health Behavioral Health Services in partnership with Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care, provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment for individuals ages 14 and older struggling with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and related eating disorders.

As one of only two inpatient eating disorders programs in New Jersey, we offer a full continuum of care, including inpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient services.

Our specialized team of physicians, nurses, therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals works collaboratively to address the medical, emotional, nutritional, and psychological aspects of recovery through individualized, evidence-based care.

In a supportive and compassionate environment, we empower patients and families with the tools, education, and confidence needed to achieve lasting recovery and an improved quality of life.
