Nephrology Fellowship

The Nephrology Fellowship is a two-year program designed to train future nephrologists. The fellowship is shared between Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Saint Barnabas Medical Center. The combined hospitals offer a rich renal experience, exposing trainees to both urban and suburban patient populations.

The fellowship provides a broad-based clinical experience in the practice of nephrology including diagnosis, disease management and prevention, and application of evidence-based methods of decision-making.

The program offers a wide range of clinical experience. Fellows gain knowledge and skills in a scope of pathology presented by a diverse patient population. Moreover, Saint Barnabas Medical Center has a renowned kidney transplant programs and trainees get a rich exposure to this renal replacement therapy.

The program is designed in concert with the recommendations and requirements of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Upon successful completion of the program, fellows are expected to be eligible and appropriately trained for subspecialty boards in Nephrology.
