Children's Specialized Hospital-Nasogastric Tube and Medication Administration

This class is designed for caregivers of patients currently admitted to Children's Specialized Hospital Inpatient Rehabilitation Program.

Participants will learn:

Parent or Caregiver will be able to administer medications and feedings through Nasogastric Tube

Parent or Caregiver will be able to successfully change a Nasogastric Tube

Parent or Caregiver will be able to state when to confirm placement and demonstrate checking pH of stomach

Parent or Caregiver will state understanding of managing complications of a Nasogastric Tube and when to call their Primary Care Provider

Parent or Caregiver will be able to describe the different types of medications

Parent or Caregiver will be able to state the differences between milliliters (ml) and milligrams (mg)

Parent or Caregiver will be able to successfully draw up practice doses of liquid medications

Parent or Caregiver will state understanding of when to contact pharmacist

This class is one hour long and attendance is required for the entire class. This class is for New Brunswick Inpatient Rehabilitation Families.
