Breast Cancer Awareness Month Event with Former Dancing with the Stars Co-Host Samantha Harris

Samantha Harris, breast cancer survivor and former co-host of Dancing with the Stars and Entertainment Tonight, will headline Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset’s 11th annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month Event on Tuesday, Oct 16 at Bridgewater Manor, 1251 Route 202/206, Bridgewater.

The program, entitled “Your Healthiest Healthy: 8 Easy Ways to Take Control, Help Prevent and Fight Cancer, and Live a Longer, Cleaner, Happier Life” will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Breast surgeon Deborah Lue, MD, of RWJ Physician Enterprise’s Steeplechase Breast Specialists and medical director of the Sanofi US Breast Care Program at the Steeplechase Cancer Center, will provide an overview of risk factors for breast cancer, signs and symptoms of the disease, the latest diagnostic equipment such as 3D mammography and available treatments.

Cost is $25 and includes dinner.

Harris will share her inspirational story of surviving stage 2 breast cancer and will discuss her quest for answers about how we can all improve our overall health, prevent chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease and autoimmune disease and understand their underlying causes.

Harris is an Emmy-award winning TV host, former Broadway actress, health and fitness expert, certified personal trainer, magazine cover girl and author. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014 at the age of 40 and shared her cancer journey through a video diary that aired on Entertainment Tonight and the E! network. Dedicated to advancing breast cancer research, Harris was named Survivor of the Year by Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Los Angeles 2017 and led its 2018 Parade of Promise. She also serves as an ambassador for the American Cancer Society. Harris and her husband, Michael, founded the online community Gotta Make Lemonade to help inspire positivity in the face of adversity.
