The Susan Fischer Burn Peer Support Group

The Susan Fischer Burn Peer Support Group is a meeting place and supportive network for burn patients and their families. The group currently meets virtually on a monthly basis, usually the fourth Thursday of the month from 3:00 to 4:00 pm.

Participants include inpatients as well as patients that have been discharged from the hospital. All burn patients and their families are encouraged to participate. The group is run by the Burn Center social worker and occupational therapist with the participation our SOAR (Survivors Offering Assistance in Recovery) volunteers who are burn survivors themselves. Our SOAR volunteers have all participated in the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors peer supporter training program to enable them to provide personal support as our patients recover from traumatic injury.
