    Dr. LaRosa joined Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in December of 2008. She currently serves as Patient Safety and Clinical Effectiveness Officer, Director of Intensive Care, Director of Palliative Care, Associate Director of the Division of Palliative Medicine, and Chairman of the Bioethics Team. She is an appointed Associate Professor of Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.

    Early on, Dr. LaRosa knew she wanted to specialize in critical care medicine. She completed internship and residency at The University of Arizona, one year of Pulmonary Medicine at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, and two years of Critical Care Medicine at New York University. She began working as an attending physician at The Brooklyn Veterans Administration Medical Center and subsequently undertook a position as a Cardiothoracic Intensivist at Staten Island University for six years.

    As both the ICU Director and now Patient Safety and Quality Officer at Newark Beth Israel, Dr. LaRosa has worked tirelessly with a team of devoted colleagues to achieve and sustain superior patient safety and quality metrics that now equal or exceed national benchmarks.

    Her devotion to a culture of safety and transparency in patient care is unwavering. Dr. LaRosa and her team are committed to ensuring that every patient at Newark Beth Israel receives excellent, high quality and safe patient care.

    Dr. LaRosa is the author of several book chapters, articles and abstracts. She has presented more than three-dozen invitational lectures including several as a diplomat of the American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. LaRosa’s clinical interests include early recognition and treatment of sepsis, end-of-life care, and quality and performance improvement.
