Feb 2, 2023 Monmouth Medical Center Honors Chair of Anesthesiology as Inaugural Physician of the Month

Physician of the Month January, Waheed Eraky, M.D

 Monmouth Medical Center Chair of Anesthesiology Waheed Eraky, M.D., was honored as the hospital’s first Physician of the Month. Presenting the award is Chief Medical Officer Kenneth Granet, M.D., and from left are Wael Ghali, M.D., Secretary of the MMC Medical Staff, Michael Perdoni, Vice President of Clinical Operations and member of the Physician of the Month Committee, President and CEO Eric Carney, Vin Prabhat, M.D., Vice President of the Medical Staff, Chief Financial Officer Cory Lasker, and Chief Human Resource Officer Rick Kiernan.

Long Branch, NJ – February 2, 2023 –Monmouth Medical Center (MMC) has introduced a Physician of the Month Program to recognize Medical Staff members for their excellence in patient care, with first honors going to the hospital's Chair of Anesthesiology, Waheed Eraky, M.D.

Among the comments received in Dr. Eraky’s nominations were:

"Dr. Eraky has been a pleasure to work with and is always supporting the nursing team in Perioperative Services. He uses his knowledge, experience and skill set in collaboration with nursing leadership to implement process changes and ensure updated protocols are in place. He is an integral part of how efficient and effective the operating room runs, and is very responsive to the nursing team when safety issues arise and is always there to support the staff. Dr. Eraky embraces teamwork and creates a desirable working environment at MMC - we are lucky to have him."

"The morning of my husband's surgery, I saw Dr. Eraky coming toward us in Periop. I could see his smile through his double masks, which put me at ease. I was thrilled to see him."

Kenneth Granet, M.D., MMC Chief Medical Officer, noted that Dr. Eraky’s award exemplifies the attributes that he exhibits and his fellow health care professionals recognize.

Dr. Eraky, a resident of Ocean Township who trained in anesthesiology at Monmouth Medical Center, has been an attending anesthesiologist at the hospital since 1996. Prior to being named Chair of Anesthesiology in 2022, he served as Vice Chair from 2009 to 2022. He also serves at clinical director of MMC’s operating rooms.
