It’s now even easier to schedule your annual mammogram. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset’s Steeplechase Cancer Center offers online scheduling for screening mammograms at its Sanofi US Breast Care Program. No prescriptions are required.
“We know that between juggling work and family responsibilities, it’s not easy for women to find time to schedule their annual mammogram,” said Deirdre Blaus, assistant vice president of cancer services at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset’s Steeplechase Cancer Center. “We hope that online scheduling will make it more convenient for them to set an appointment for this important cancer screening.”
To schedule an appointment online for a screening mammogram, go to the app store and download the RWJBarnabas Health Connect app. Real-time appointment booking is available and the appointment will be added directly to your phone’s calendar. The app also allows you to create and save your user profile with your insurance information and any prescriptions.
Women who may have put off their annual mammogram due to the COVID-19 pandemic are encouraged to schedule an appointment. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset’s safety protocols include screening of all patients and visitors at hospital entrances, social distancing and stringent cleaning practices. Everyone must wear a mask at all times in the hospital.
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset’s Steeplechase Cancer Center recommends annual screening mammograms for women beginning at the age of 40. Women with a family history of breast cancer should talk to their physician about being screened at an earlier age.
