Lakewood, NJ- Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the importance of yearly mammography screenings, with the completion of Phase 1 to the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center, on the Lakewood campus.

“The addition of a new three-dimensional (3D) mammography, used for both screening and diagnostic mammograms, produces many thinly sliced images of the breast, improving cancer detection,” explains Diane Ciricillo, Director, Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center at Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus. “The expansion and the addition of this advanced technology helps us to provide better access to quality mammography services, including additional appointment times for patients, as well as Sunday appointments.”

It’s very important to have a screening mammography as the best opportunity for early detection of breast cancer, even if you have no abnormal breast symptoms. Diagnostic mammograms are tailored to patients with a breast area of concern such as pain, lump, or follow-up. Our team of board-certified breast imagers specialize in the technical aspects involved in diagnosing breast problems. They are joined by a staff of highly trained, licensed mammography technologists and nurses – all of whom are sensitive to the needs and concerns of every patient.
