Nov 3, 2020 RWJBarnabas Health's Patrick Knaus Promoted to Executive Vice President of System Strategy

Patrick KnausWest Orange, NJ, November, 2020 – President and Chief Executive Officer of RWJBarnabas Health Barry H. Ostrowsky has announced the promotion of Patrick Knaus to Executive Vice President, System Strategy.He previously served as Senior Vice President, System Strategy.

In his expanded role, Mr. Knaus will continue to oversee strategic planning and market analysis functions for RWJBH. He has served as Senior Vice President, System Strategy since 2016. His promotion coincides with changes to the system’s strategic leadership structure designed to best position RWJBH for future success as a system. Under this new structure, strategy, business development and ambulatory divisions will be consolidated to help ensure that key transactions and business activities remain solidly linked to the strategic plan.

Mr. Knaus has more than 25 years of health care experience working in multi-hospital health systems. Prior to 2016 with the merger of RWJ Health System and Barnabas Health he led strategy and business development at RWJHS,, where he was responsible for driving the strategic planning process, leading the GE Management System/Operation: Excellence process, and supporting multiple service line initiatives. From 2001 to 2010, Mr. Knaus directed strategy and business development efforts at St. Mary Medical Center, creating the organization’s overall strategic plan, as well as being responsible for service line development, ambulatory growth and physician recruitment. He has worked in health care strategy for other systems including Franciscan Health System, Catholic Health Initiatives, and Catholic Health East.
