Jan 18, 2019 Saint Barnabas Medical Center Welcomes Marcello Guarneri as Vice President of Finance

Saint Barnabas Medical Center is proud to announce and welcome Marcello Guarneri as Vice President of Finance. Mr. Guarneri is results oriented, accomplished financial executive with extensive background in health care financial management and administration. He is recognized in his field as a hands-on, expert problem solver. “Marcello’s impressive reputation for execution, and strong background in health care financial management makes him a great addition to our organization,” says Richard Davis, CFO, Saint Barnabas Medical Center. His administrative responsibilities include Financial Services, Patient Access, Health Information Management Department and Materials Management. He will lead the hospital activities concerned with general business operations, accounting, budget, statistical reporting and reimbursement.

Mr. Guarneri joins the SBMC team from Saint Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, NJ, where he served as the Chief Financial Officer. In his role, he oversaw all financial reporting and interpretation of results of the hospital and related entities to Executive Board, Senior Management and Corporate Leadership. Prior to Saint Michael’s Medical Center, he spent five years as the Assistant Vice President of Finance at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. There, he was responsible for monthly and annual financial results of the hospital, maintained effective financial procedures and worked with senior leadership to provide advice and recommendations related to various issues. Mr. Guarneri received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Montclair State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

As an active participant in the community, he is a member of the New Jersey Institute of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA), Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). Additionally, Mr. Guarneri is a committee member for the NJHA Audit & Compliance Committee and the NJHA Finance Committee. He also serves as the President of the Board of Education for the township of Totowa where he resides with his wife of 25 years, their three children and a dog.
