Dec 1, 2020 Investors Bank Foundation Awards Grant to Support Women’s Wellness Pantry at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center

Newark, NJ (Sept. 10, 2020) Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC) recently received a grant for $10,000 from Investors Foundation to support the medical center sponsored Women’s Wellness Pantry Program. The grant will help further the Women’s Wellness Pantry mission of improving the health and well-being of pregnant and new moms by addressing food insecurity and reducing maternal and infant mortality through nutrition education, keeping up with prenatal and postpartum visits and access to healthy food.

At the Women’s Wellness Pantry, located at the Rev. Dr. Ronald B. Christian Community Health and Wellness Center at 208 Lyons Avenue in Newark, directly across the street from NBIMC, registered dietitians screen pregnant women from NBIMC's Women's Health Center for nutritional risk/food insecurity during their prenatal visits. Women are invited to participate are provided comprehensive medical nutrition therapy and wellness education and incentives including groceries, diapers and women’s hygiene products.
 

This program has allowed us to stay in touch with our new moms and moms-to-be assuring that they have resources for needed services, stay up to date on prenatal care and check in with friendly faced during uncertain and challenging times of a pandemic.
