    Dr. Rezai is the System Director of Critical Care Medicine, RWJ Barnabas Health, part of the Emergency and Hospitalist Medicine (EHM) Service Line. He is responsible for ensuring the collaborative, intensivist-driven Intensive Care Unit (ICU) model is consistent across the enterprise.

    Since joining RWJ Barnabas Health more than 21 years ago, Dr. Rezai has continually assumed additional clinical and leadership responsibility both at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (CBMC) and in the System. Board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Neurocritical Care, Dr. Rezai is currently the Director of the Medical, Surgical, and Neurosurgical Intensive Care Units and Director of the Division of Critical Care for the Departments of Surgery and Medicine, CBMC. During his tenure, Dr. Rezai was integrally involved in creating an intensivist-driven ICU model at Cooperman Barnabas, Community and Monmouth Medical Centers. With a continuous focus on quality, he has implemented numerous processes and protocols that have resulted in superior outcomes for patients.

    Dr. Rezai is currently President of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, New Jersey Chapter, where he is active both on a local and national level. He is a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM) and a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP). As an academic leader and tenured professor, Dr. Rezai has more than 200 publications, abstracts presentations and lectures, and serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School.
