    Richard A. Mann, MD, MS has served as Medical Director of the RWJUH Transplant Team since the program’s inception in 1999. Dr. Mann is a graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. He received his residency training at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA prior to spending four years as a renal fellow at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Mann joined the faculty at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, where he received the Outstanding Attending Award in the Department of Medicine six years in a row before being awarded the Academic Excellence and Outstanding Teaching Award by the graduating medical school class.

    For more than 25 years, Dr. Mann has served as a scientific advisor to the Food and Drug Administration where he was actively involved in the review and approval of the majority of immunosuppressive drugs used in transplantation today. He was the director of an immunology research laboratory for 12 years, the co-principal or principal investigator on numerous grants and clinical trials, and has published extensively.

    Dr. Mann has been the recipient of many awards, honors and accolades throughout his career. He is an avid cyclist and has mentored/trained more than 60 nephrologists, the majority of whom practice in the tristate area.
