RWJBarnabas Health is committed to meeting the special health care needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQ) community with respect and compassion. We provide an array of health, referral and educational services, promote LGBTQ health equity and access to care, and develop effective partnerships with LGBTQ organizations, agencies and allies.

Diverse Young People in discussionClara Maass Medical Center, Community Medical Center, Jersey City Medical Center, Monmouth Medical Center, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick and Somerset and Saint Barnabas Medical Center were all recognized as “Leaders in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality” by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, the educational arm of the country’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization. This is the fifth consecutive year for JCMC and the fourth consecutive year for both RWJUH hospitals chosen among a select group of health care facilities nationwide to receive this designation.
