Evaluation and Appointments

At the Center for Liver Diseases and Liver Masses, patients benefit from a team-based approach, with the initial evaluation handled by a hepatologist, a specially-trained gastroenterologist, and may include fibroscan.

Fibroscan is a new, non-invasive technology for assessing liver fibrosis (scarring) and fatty content, which helps reduce the need for invasive tests like liver biopsy. It is a painless test which can be done during a regular clinic visit.

Following the patient’s initial appointment, the multidisciplinary team reviews all test results and a treatment plan is developed. Coordination also begins amongst the appropriately identified conjoined treatment clinics based on the patient’s diagnosis.
