Substance Use Navigators

When a family first discovers their child’s substance use, it can be difficult to know where to get services. RWJBarnabas Health Institute for Prevention’s Substance Use Navigators (SUNs) collaborate with the Children’s System of Care (CSOC) and community partners to improve youth and young adult substance use disorder services. Substance Use Navigators are engaging in a community-wide needs assessment to identify service gaps and system improvements while also increasing knowledge of adolescent/young adult substance use needs.

Providing services in Essex, Monmouth and Ocean Counties, the IFPR SUNs collaborate with community stakeholders in an effort to achieve seamless access to substance use services for adolescents through the execution of community assessments and training for schools and physicians about available services.
