At the Forefront of Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) Treatment
Acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) is a form of blood cancer that develops from immature lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell, in the bone marrow. Also known as acute lymphoblastic leukemia, these leukemia cells can spread to other parts of the body including the spleen, liver, brain and spinal cord, testicles, and lymph nodes.
ALL is referred to as “acute” because it can occur suddenly and progress very quickly. Acute lymphocytic leukemia symptoms can include pale skin, shortness of breath, fatigue or low energy as well as more severe symptoms like frequent infections, bone pain, bleeding from the gums, lumps or swollen lymph nodes, and frequent or severe nosebleeds.
RWJBarnabas Health in partnership with Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the state’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, offers the most advanced treatment options for individuals suffering from ALL including access to clinical trials not available elsewhere in the state. Treatment options may include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, or stem cell transplantation.
At RWJBarnabas Health we are committed to working together with you and your family to find the right treatment for you.
