In 2020, the Renal and Pancreas Transplant Division at Saint Barnabas Medical Center

  • Performed 290 total kidney transplants
    • Saint Barnabas again did more kidney transplants than any center in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania
    • 61% of our recipients were transplanted within 2 years of being put on the waiting list or starting dialysis
  • Performed 113 kidney transplants from living donors
    • Saint Barnabas was the 5th largest living donor kidney transplant program in the entire country
    • Saint Barnabas was the largest living donor kidney transplant program in the eastern U.S.
    • 49 of these transplants occurred preemptively, before the recipient started dialysis
    • 80% of these recipients were transplanted within 2 years of being put on the waiting list or starting dialysis
  • Performed 177 kidney transplants from deceased donors
    • Performed more deceased donor transplants than any other center in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania

  • More than 94% of our transplant patients survive at least 3 years
