Neonatal Intensive Care Services in Livingston, NJ

Advanced Medical Care for Infants

At Saint Barnabas Medical Center, we are well-known for our state-of-the-art neonatal care services. We are a level III Regional Perinatal Center staffed with experienced neonatal care experts capable of treating some of the most serious conditions that affect newborns.

It’s difficult to learn that your newborn is a “high-risk” baby. At Saint Barnabas Medical Center, we provide infants with the personal, attentive care they need. We provide parents with compassionate, honest updates on the child’s condition and can refer them to counseling or community services that may help them through this time.

The following services are available at our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU):

  • High-Risk Infant Follow Up ProgramWe want to ensure that all the babies we have helped are prepared for the future. In this program, a multi-disciplinary team provides follow-up care to premature infants and babies who are at risk of developmental delays.
  • Infant Apnea ProgramApnea is a condition that stops people from breathing for breathe periods and sometimes affects premature infants. We perform a thorough evaluation of infants with apnea and educate parents on how to care for and monitor their child so they can be prepared in the event their child stops breathing.
  • Lactation Consultants Breastfeeding is a healthy way for babies to start life, and can significantly help babies who were born prematurely. Two lactation consultants work in our NICU to help mothers learn the basics of breastfeeding.
  • Social Work Services & Support GroupsOur social workers meet with families who have children in the NICU and help them learn more about community resources and support groups that can help them during this time.
