About Our Pastoral Care

RWJUH Pastoral Care Department provides ministry to people of all faiths.

A clinically trained Chaplain is available 24/7/365 for emotional and spiritual support. Chaplains focus on patients and their families’ own spiritual and religious resources, offering a comforting presence and a listening ear. On-site chaplains are available for Communion, anointing, blessings, emergencies, Eucharistic visitations, memorials, debriefings and various holiday services. Assistance with and education about Advance Directives is provided as requested.

  • After 4:00 p.m. and on weekends, contact the on-call chaplain at pager #1133.
  • To speak with the office of Pastoral Care from outside of the hospital, please call (732) 937-8504.

We Are Here to Help

Clergy of all faiths are welcome to visit their hospitalized congregants and are extended courtesy parking at the Hospital parking deck. Please take your parking ticket with you and have it stamped at the Information desk.

If your Congregant is hospitalized at RWJUH, please let us know how we can assist the patient and their family. We are happy to visit your Congregant when it may be logistically difficult for you. We would also appreciate if you, the Clergy Person, remind your Congregants from time to time that in order for the Hospital to notify you when somebody from your Congregation is hospitalized, the Congregant needs to give us a permission to do so.
