Barbara F Cancer - Barbara's Story

"The team has always gone out of their way to keep me and my family informed."

Surviving the fight of her life, Barbara’s steadfast and upbeat nature genuinely made it a delight for the team at Monmouth South to return that positivity through their care.

Barbara Fiedler of Forked River had experiences at three hospital throughout RWJBarnabas Health System after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She had surgery at Community Medical Center in Toms River, then due to unfortunate set-backs in her health, she became an inpatient, E.D. patient and later, she chose outpatient services for immunotherapy at Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus.

“When I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, I knew I was in for a fight, but the health care team throughout RWJBarnabas Health is helping me win that fight. From my surgery to my immunotherapy treatments, I could not have found more experienced and compassionate caregivers. It’s tough to stay positive through surgery, chemo and an occasional set-back, but I am alive today because of these wonderful professionals. From my doctors, Hackett, Cohen, Atkar, Sharma, and Iglesis, to the nurses, Angelica, Sarah, Jennifer, and Stephanie, just to name a few, I am alive today because of them. The team has always gone out of their way to keep me and my family informed, including a print-out each day of my medications and status. The rooms are gorgeous and even if you are having a bad day and not feeling yourself, they lift you up. The choices for health care are many, but I would never travel anywhere else, but to see these lovely people. Thank You!”
