Providing Rapid Access to Recovery-Oriented Mental Health Treatment

About the EISS Program

Monmouth Medical Center’s EISS program provides up to 30 days of outpatient treatment to those experiencing mental health issues that are severe enough to place them at risk of needing hospital services. EISS program staff work with individuals to help them avoid the use of emergency room crisis units. For individuals already evaluated by a crisis unit, EISS is available to provide services so that inpatient psychiatric treatment may be unnecessary.

Individuals are able to meet with a therapist within 24 hours of referral, and an advanced practice nurse (APN) for medication evaluation within 48 hours of referral. Case managers are part of the treatment team and are available to help clients access community resources. The program’s registered nurse, in conjunction with the APN, helps assess medical issues and provides medical education and counseling. A peer specialist is also available to help clients develop a plan for recovery.

EISS staff can meet with clients on site at the program’s facility in Neptune, as well as off site in homes or other community settings. Individual and group treatment is available. Team members work closely with families and have regular contact with other agencies in order to

support the needs of clients.
