Traumatic & Sudden Loss: A Webinar Presentation & Group Discussion
This webinar, produced by the Hospice Foundation of America, examines some of the ways that traumatic and sudden loss, including suicide, homicide, and community losses, can impact or complicate bereavement, and how organizations can be better prepared to serve as a resource for these types of losses. The course includes a strong emphasis on interventive techniques focused on assisting survivors in coping with such losses.
The following learning objectives will be addressed in this program:
1. Describe unique factors that complicate sudden and traumatic loss
2. Describe the underlying theory behind desensitizing therapies and list four such approaches
3. Describe four other interventive modalities
4. Discuss the role of ritual and memorialization in the treatment of sudden loss
5. Describe secondary traumatization and offer strategies for self care
A certificate of attendance for 2 contact hours will be given to all who attend.
