Keynote Address: “The Transition Journey— Body, Mind and Spirit”

Target Audience: Physicians, Medical Students, Residents, Residency Program Chairs

Goal: To provide a forum for physicians to interact with a fellow provider who has personally experienced gender transition, and to become more familiar with caring for the transgender patient population

Objectives: At the conclusion of the presentation, the participant will be able to:

  • Recognize the unique challenges presented to the medical community by Male to Female (MtF) and Female to Male (FtM) transgender patients, as well as gender fluid individuals; Understand the incredibly diverse nature of the transgender spectrum and the status of gender fluid;
  • Recognize the emotional impact of transitioning, as it applies to both patients and colleagues; and
  • Create a welcoming environment for these patients
