A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls
According to the u.S. National Library of Medicine, every year more than
1.6 million older u.S. adults go to emergency departments for fall-related
injuries. This free, eight-part series will benefit mobile adults by helping
reduce the fear of falling and increase the activity levels of older adults
who have this concern. This program is open to those 60 and older who
are concerned about falls, may have sustained a fall in the past, limit
their activities because of concerns about falling and are interested
in improving flexibility, balance and strength. A Matter of Balance uses
a variety of activities such as group discussion, problemsolving, skill
building, assertiveness training, videotapes, sharing practical solutions
and exercise training to help seniors prevent falls. The class will take
place in the 3rd Floor Conference Room of Monmouth Medical Center, Southern
Campus, 600 River Avenue, Lakewood
