Inaugural Asbury Park Music in Film Festival - Monmouth Medical Center

Monmouth Medical Center is a proud sponsor of the inaugural Asbury Park Music in Film Festival, which will be held the weekend of April 10 to April 12 in the iconic city of Asbury Park at such historic venues as the Grand Arcade and the Paramount Theatre.

The three-day festival will fuse the rich musical heritage of Asbury Park with filmmakers and industry leaders from around the world and will involve the many local businesses, and talent that make Asbury Park the iconic destination it is today. It will focus on music-influenced films and videos, as well as a special category for local filmmakers, and will showcase music and film talent from around the world. The festival will raise funds for the Asbury Park Heritage Foundation and will benefit music education for children throughout the city.

"As Monmouth Medical Center is an intricate part of the fabric of the local community and is dedicated to serving the people of the city of Asbury Park, we strongly support this festival and its music programs for children," said Frank J. Vozos, M.D., FACS, President and CEO, MMC. Dr. Vozos told the Asbury Park Press he believes music has healing powers and he is a fan of '70s and '80s rock. He also noted MMC has some interesting music connections, including:

  • Bruce Springsteen was born at MMC in 1949.
  • Jon Bon Jovi performed during The Hope Concert III at Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank last August to raise money for the Valerie Fund Center at the Unterberg Children's Hospital at MMC.
  • MMC is a corporate sponsor of the Count Basie Awards, a musical competition, and is giving away a college scholarship this year.
  • Colts Neck teenager Jacquie Lee, who was a finalist on NBC's The Voice in 2013, performed at The Unterberg Children's Hospital.
  • Platinum-selling recording artist Andy Grammer also performed for patients and staff at The Unterberg Children's Hospital.
  • MMC has a quartet of plastic surgeons who perform in a band called Cell Division.
