Diabetes Support Group: Diabetes and Kidney Disease
Kidney disease, or nephropathy, occurs in 20 to 40 percent of people with diabetes and can lead to kidney failure. The two most important risk factors for kidney disease are high blood glucose and high blood pressure (hypertension). At this support group Homero Paniagua, APN, NP-C, an Inpatient Transplant Nurse Practitioner at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, will discuss what patients with diabetes need to know about nephropathy and how to prevent it.
