Carbohydrates in Foods - Better alternatives for the Holidays at Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center

With the holidays just around the corner you are probably wondering how can I best manage my diabetes with so many holiday parties, treats, and high carbohydrate food around. At this support group we are goping to go back to basics and discuss identifying carbohydrates and appropriate portion size. We will discuss what are the better carbodydrates (lower glycemic index) that we should be getting more of and which carbohydrates we need to limit or avoid altogether (higher glycemic index). To tie this into the holidays we would like everyone to come in with a recipe that they have adjusted to make it better for their blood sugar control and we can have a recipe swap and discuss other diabetes friendly recipe sources.
