Living in Ocean County

Ocean County offers vast stretches of forest and wetlands, farms and the rolling surf of the Atlantic. Physicians who choose to practice and live in southern New Jersey enjoy easy access to the famed Jersey Shore – a beloved vacation destination for millions of Americans every year – as well as the myriad pleasures of a slower, quieter pace of living, all less than two hours from Philadelphia and New York City. From the unspoiled natural preserves to the electric sights, sounds and tastes of towns along the shore, and beyond to the timeless charm of small-town main streets and endless acres of parkland and marinas, southern New Jersey has something for everyone.

Ocean County is part of the New York metropolitan area but is also home to many tourist attractions frequently visited by Delaware Valley residents, especially the beachfront communities of Seaside Heights, Long Beach Island, Point Pleasant Beach, as well as Six Flags Great Adventure, which is the home of the world's tallest and second-fastest roller coaster, Kingda Ka. Also located in Ocean County is FirstEnergy Park opened in 2001 with 6,588 reserved seats and is home of the Lakewood BlueClaws, the Class A-affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. Ocean County is also a gateway to New Jersey's Pine Barrens, one of the largest protected pieces of land on the East Coast.
