Community Medical Center is a 592-bed, fully accredited acute care hospital offering area residents world-class medical treatment with the comforts of hometown care. Opened in 1961, Community Medical Center, is now committed to high quality undergraduate and graduate medical education programs. CMC is Ocean County’s largest and most active health care facility—caring for over 21,000 inpatients, 178,000 outpatients and over 73,000 emergency department patients each year.

The objectives of the Community Medical Center Residency Program are to provide excellent graduate medical education in a supervised and an academic atmosphere that prepares the resident physician to practice comprehensive, scientific, safe, and cost-effective Internal Medicine.

The Internal Medicine residency program is committed to maintaining quality education to residents and to following the guidelines and policies of Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Below are the list of competencies:

The graduate will demonstrate the excellent knowledge, practical skills, and attitudes required to provide independent patient-centered care in the specialty of Internal medicine. It is our goal that after completion of residency, the graduate of our program is an excellent internist who is well prepared for the future endeavor of his/her career in hospital medicine, primary care physician or further subspecialty fellowship training.
