Referral/Admission Information
Thank you for choosing to refer your patient to our hospital for his or
her rehabilitation care. When you recommend services at our hospital,
whether it is for therapy, inpatient rehabilitation, pediatric long term
care, evaluations, or any type of service, we strive to provide the very
best medical, nursing and therapeutic care, as well as excellent customer
service for you, your patients, and families.
Referring a Patient
To refer a patient one of our inpatient programs, we encourage you to speak with a member of our staff. Please contact the admissions team by phone at 908-301-5461 or via email for more information. If your patient will be traveling from outside the region, we can make accommodations to assist. Please email us to arrange.
Weekend Admissions
Due to requests from our referral sources, we have added the ability to admit patients on the weekends. While the majority of patients will be able to be admitted, there are some criteria that may preclude the ability to safely transition care on the weekends.
- Patients with diagnosis of acute respiratory failure or acute on chronic respiratory failure with ongoing need for high flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, or ventilator dependence
- Patients with thalamic/catecholamine storming episodes
- Patients with pulmonary hypertension requiring ongoing continuous infusion of or inhalational vasodilators
- Chronic illness patients, including diabetics and pain patients
- Neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) patients currently being maintained on two or more narcotics
- Patients with a history of organ transplant
- Patients requiring Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN,) if prior arrangements have not been coordinated between referring and CSH pharmacy on the Friday preceding admission
If weekend admission is approved, please make an effort to transport patient to Children’s Specialized Hospital Inpatient service by noon on the day of admission.
