Inpatient Weekend Admissions

Due to requests from our referral sources, we have added the ability to admit patients on the weekends. While the majority of patients will be able to be admitted, there are some criteria that may preclude the ability to safely transition care on the weekends.

  • Patients with diagnosis of acute respiratory failure or acute on chronic respiratory failure with ongoing need for high flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, or ventilator dependence
  • Patients with thalamic/catecholamine storming episodes
  • Patients with pulmonary hypertension requiring ongoing continuous infusion of or inhalational vasodilators
  • Chronic illness patients, including diabetics and pain patients
  • Neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) patients currently being maintained on two or more narcotics
  • Patients with a history of organ transplant
  • Patients requiring Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN,) if prior arrangements have not been coordinated between referring and CSH pharmacy on the Friday preceding admission

If weekend admission is approved, please make an effort to transport patient to Children’s Specialized Hospital Inpatient service by noon on the day of admission.
