Welcome from our President and Chief Executive Officer

A Message from Bill Arnold, MHA, President and Chief Executive Officer of Monmouth Medical Center

Bill Arnold, MHAHello, I am Bill Arnold, MHA, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Monmouth Medical Center. On behalf of the entire Medical Center family, I am pleased to welcome you as a new employee. You can be proud that you have been selected to be part of our team as well as a part of RWJBarnabas Health – the largest health care provider in the state of New Jersey.

You have shown that you possess the skills and share in the core values that are essential to our success. We are dedicated to providing high quality health care; to ensuring patient, physician and employee satisfaction; and to responsible financial management, execution and sustainability.

As a member of our staff, you now represent one of New Jersey’s largest academic medical centers, recognized by Press Ganey as a Distinguished Academic Medical Center among an elite group of the nation’s nine leading teaching hospitals.

An academic affiliate of Philadelphia’s Drexel University College of Medicine, Monmouth Medical Center and The Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center have notable advantages over many institutions in providing — and demonstrating — quality. Monmouth is Drexel’s largest major academic medical affiliate in New Jersey and is the only area academic medical center to achieve regional medical campus status. Additionally, Monmouth has earned the coveted Thomson 100 Top Hospitals – Performance Improvement Leaders award, recognizing our clinical outcomes and patient safety among 100 top hospitals in the nation.

Additionally, Monmouth’s reputation as a progressive medical center attracts the state’s top physicians, who are committed to quality patient care and medical excellence. Monmouth has more than 800 members on its medical and dental staff — trained in primary care medicine, surgery, and obstetrics and gynecology, as well as in more than 60 recognized subspecialties.

We are known for many programs and services that truly set us apart. I know you will be as proud as I am when someone you meet says, Monmouth -- isn’t that the home of The Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center? Or, when you are told, my relative had surgery at Monmouth or my baby was born there. We pride ourselves on our Centers of Excellence, which offer superior services and care to our patients, including:

  • The Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center: offering highest level of pediatric care for newborns to adolescents, including leading edge treatments and specialized expertise that only a comprehensive children’s hospital can provide. We offer a child-friendly, family-focused approach to every aspect of care, and a dedication to medical excellence that sets us apart.
  • For nearly 40 years, Monmouth has held a leadership role in comprehensive cancer care. Our outstanding reputation hasbroadened through the ongoing expansion of state-of-the-art programs and technologies offered in all areas of cancer prevention, detection and treatment.

Cancer patients have access to our services through the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center, which is committed to meeting the breast health care needs of all women and the Leon Hess Cancer Center, which stands at the forefront of providing the most extensive array of highly advanced cancer services, delivered by a team of specialists in a caring and supportive environment. Additionally, Monmouth is home to one of only three brain tumor programs in the state—the David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center, and our Institute for Advanced Radiation Oncology offers the latest treatment advances with the regions only Tomotherapy program.
  • Our Department of Surgery, which boasts the lowest surgical mortality in all of New Jersey
  • We are well-known for our Center for Arthritis and Rheumatological Conditions, for
  • The Cranmer Ambulatory Surgery Center, providing a full spectrum of same-day surgical services using the most modern technology available
  • Our Bariatric Surgery Program
  • Our Regional CleftPalate Center, one of five regional referral centers in the state established by the New Jersey Department of Health for children born with clefts
  • The Center for Diabetes Education
  • Our Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery, with the most advanced, state-of-the-art laparoscopic surgical procedures to treat a wide variety of medical conditions
  • The Monmouth Family Health Center
  • The Valerie Fund Children’s Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders
  • And our Robotic Surgery department, offering the most experienced robotic surgeons in the state and employing the daVinci Surgery System to offer patients better outcomes than conventional surgery

We believe that each employee is responsible for creating the Monmouth Medical Center experience. From the moment our patients arrive in our facility until they are safely discharged, each and every employee plays an important role in creating a healing environment for all of our patients.

Imagine entering a large medical center, unsure of where you need to go in the facility and feeling very vulnerable about your health or the health of a loved one. The first person who welcomes you at the front door is a friendly security guard who offers guidance, if requested. He or she has made a definite impression that will last and be enhanced by courteous treatment from employees in the Patient Access Department and the Volunteer who escorts you to your room.

Remember, all of these interactions have taken place and made a positive impression before you have even seen your physician or nurse. Clearly, our medical professionals are the anchors of our team. But every single employee plays an integral role as ambassador of Monmouth. We take pride in our employees and expect them to share in our commitment to deliver the finest health care in the State of New Jersey. After all, at Monmouth Medical Center, “We do it better. And we can prove it.”

I welcome you and I wish you success.
