A Message from Michael Mimoso, MHSA, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer of Community Medical Center

Michael Mimoso, Community Medical Center

Hello, I am Michael Mimoso, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Community Medical Center. On behalf of the entire Medical Center family, I am pleased to welcome you as a new employee. You can be proud that you have been selected to be part of our team as well as a part of RWJBarnabas Health – the largest health care provider in the state of New Jersey.

You have shown that you possess the skills and share in the core values that are essential to our success. We are dedicated to providing high quality health care; to ensuring patient, physician and employee satisfaction; and to responsible financial management, execution and sustainability.

As a member of our staff, you now represent a fully accredited acute care hospital offering area residents world-class medical treatment with the comfort of hometown care. Since 1961, Community has evolved into the state’s largest non-teaching hospital and Ocean County’s largest and most active healthcare facility—caring for over 28,000 inpatients, nearly 130,000 outpatients and more than 98,000 emergency department patients each year.

We are committed to enhancing the overall health status of the community by providing the highest quality health care and wellness services. In collaboration with our Medical Staff and in partnership with RWJBarnabas Health, we strive to exceed patients’ expectations in a progressive organizational environment that emphasizes commitment, competence, collaboration, communication and compassion.

Community maintains award-winning centers of excellence in a variety of clinical areas. In fact, Community Medical Center is the recipient of the 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 HealthGrades Distinguished Hospital Awards for Clinical Excellence, ranking us in the Top 5% of hospitals in the nation. We are one of only 47 hospitals in the nation to achieve this distinction. We have earned HealthGrades 5 star ratings for Maternity care, Orthopedics, General Surgery and Pulmonary care and for the treatment of heart failure and heart attack

We are known for many programs and services that truly set us apart. I know you will be as proud of these services and the people who provide them as I am. We pride ourselves on our Centers of Excellence, which offer superior services and care to our patients, including:

  • World-class cancer care at the J. Phillip Citta Regional Cancer Center, approved by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons as a “Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program.”
  • Robotic Surgery program, with five surgeons and a team of robotically trained nurses and OR technicians, using the daVinci Surgery System to perform gyn, gyn oncology and urology surgeries.
  • Comprehensive Imaging services featuring all state-of-the-art technology including 64-slice CT, Coronary CT-Angiography, 3.0 Tesla MRI, all digital mammography and breast MRI, just to name a few.
  • The busiest and largest Emergency Department in New Jersey
  • Emergent and elective angioplasty, as well as diagnostic and rehabilitative cardiac care.
  • The Center for Diabetes Education is valuable resource to patients and physicians. Our Certified Diabetes Educators, provide people with diabetes the tools they need to manage their diabetes day to day.
  • And, Community is one of the area’s most trusted providers of maternal and child health services, offering the First Moments Maternity Unit -- a total concept of care for mother and baby--where advanced technology and training are enhanced with a strong level of patient care and commitment.

We believe that each employee is responsible for creating the Community Medical Center experience. From the moment our patients arrive in our hospital until they are safely discharged. Each and every employee plays an important role in creating a healing environment for all of our patients.

Imagine entering a large medical center, unsure of where you need to go and feeling very vulnerable about your health or the health of a loved one. The first person who welcomes you at the front door is a friendly security officer who offers guidance, if requested. He or she has made a definite impression that will last and be enhanced by courteous treatment from employees in the Admitting Department and the Volunteers you encounter.

Remember, all of these interactions have taken place and made a positive impression before you have even seen your physician or nurse. Clearly, our medical professionals are the anchors of our team. But every single employee plays an integral role as an ambassador of Community. We take pride in our employees and expect them to share in our commitment to deliver the finest health care in the State of New Jersey.

I welcome you and I wish you success.
