Pediatric Continence Center and Recent Grants
Pediatric Continence Center
Developed by Dr. Joseph G. Barone, Chief of Pediatric Urology, the Pediatric Continence Center at The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital offers the area’s first and only clinical program dedicated exclusively to helping children overcome bladder control problems.
One of only a few such programs in the country, the center provides specialized care and attention for children experiencing issues such as:
- Bed-wetting
- Urinary incontinence
- Recurring urinary tract infections
Our young patients receive comprehensive, compassionate care that includes therapies involving behavioral therapy, biofeedback, counseling, and medications.
The Pediatric Continence Center at BMSCH has helped thousands of children and continues to be a valued resource for countless others.
Recent Grants
The Pediatric Continence Center received a $20,000 grant from the Astellas Foundation to continue its patient care, research and educational mission related to pediatric voiding disorders. A portion of the grant will fund the purchase of state-of-the-art urodynamic equipment to diagnose and treat children with neurogenic bladder dysfunction and other types of voiding dysfunction.
The Laurie Foundation awarded the Pediatric Continence Center with an $11,000 grant. These funds will be used to purchase small-caliber endoscopes which allow BMSCH physicians to safely perform cytoscopy and ureteroscopy on infants, specifically to treat kidney stones.
