Preparing for Baby's Arrival
Ready, set ... not yet! Indeed, some of the considerations and tasks to do before baby arrives may start to seem overwhelming. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital now offers a virtual maternity tour to help expecting parents learn about our services and what they should expect.

Regional Perinatal Center
With state-of-the-art technology and a staff of medical experts, the Regional Perinatal Center is equipped to handle any emergency for mothers and babies before, during and after delivery. The center provides specialized services such as 3-D and 4-D ultrasound, first and second trimester genetic sonography, genetic counseling and the state’s most advanced program for preventing pre-term birth and pregnancy loss. It is also the only center in New Jersey that provides fetal surgery for the treatment of certain conditions.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Having a premature infant, or one with medical complications that require the special services of a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), is an emotional and medical roller coaster. Our compassionate and highly trained staff work closely with you and your family, offering support through challenging times, while providing the best care possible for your baby.
Amenities: All the Best for Mom and Baby
In our Regional Perinatal Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, we have 32 ante-partum and post-partum rooms and 12 labor and delivery rooms.
All new moms receive private rooms and tender, loving care. Each room features amenities such as flat screen televisions and sleeper-chairs for dads or other family members to spend the night.
The rooms offer you privacy, with enough space for baby to stay in the room with you, if you wish. We believe new mothers should be pampered here. You can order all meals from an extensive, restaurant-style menu. When it's time for you to get your rest, baby can stay in one of our two nurseries, and you can visit at any time, or your baby can stay in your room with you. More importantly, you and your infant will receive the highest level of care in an academic medical center.
Should your infant need any special medical attention, you can be confident that you are in a world-class hospital with highly trained physicians and nurses and a 37-bed NICU.
