Nov 6, 2019 Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital to Stage Active Shooter Exercise on November 9

(New Brunswick, NJ)- Reminder to all patients, visitors and friends:

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH), PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital, Rutgers University, RWJUH Mobile Health Services, the New Brunswick Police Department and Middlesex County’s Special Operations Team (SORT) will conduct an active-shooter response exercise on Saturday, November 9 from 7 a.m. – 12 Noon on the hospital’s New Brunswick campus.

Areas that may be impacted by the exercise include the hospital’s main lobby, Emergency Department, Nursing Office, entrances, exterior, and hallways. The main lobby areas of the Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at RWJUH, PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital and the hallway leading from the hospital to the Plum Street building may also be impacted.

The exercise will help all partners on our academic medical campus and law enforcement evaluate our response in the event an active shooter enters our campus to inflict harm on visitors and employees.

Please be aware that Middlesex County SORT personnel may be seen on campus wearing their full equipment.

Signs will be placed on the reception desks to inform visitors and employees that an active shooter exercise is underway.

All normal hospital operations and visiting hours will continue during this time.
