Nov 27, 2019 Emergency Department Expansion at RWJUH Is Complete

After two years of construction, the expansion of the Emergency Department at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) New Brunswick is complete. The hospital celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony in November.

The newly expanded Emergency Department’s footprint increased from 40,000 to 60,000 square feet. It features more than 100 new, private treatment areas for patients; a separate, expanded Pediatric Emergency Department specifically dedicated to children and families; a fast-track option for patients; in-department radiology imaging to increase efficiency and reduce wait times for test results; a new walk-in entrance; separate sensory rooms for children and adults, and a new ambulance bay with capacity for eight ambulances at one time. Check out this video from the ribbon cutting ceremony, as proud administrators and the mayor of New Brunswick marked this important milestone.
