Award presented at CIANJ/COMMERCE Magazine inaugural event

Environmentally-friendly procedures at Trinitas Regional Medical Center recently earned recognition from The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ) and Commerce Magazine during a special celebration held in Glen Ridge. More than 150 consultants, attorneys, accountants, engineers, licensed site remediation professionals and others in the environmental sector gathered at the Glen Ridge Country Club for the first annual event.

CIANJ President Anthony Russo said the event was held to showcase the extraordinary environmental work done throughout New Jersey. "CIANJ has a long history in the environmental industry and we want to honor the leaders for their accomplishments and dedication," he said.

Trinitas was praised for its leadership in implementing a "single stream" recycling program that uses green bags to flag recyclable items in the waste stream. Cardboard and paper waste is separated, and hazardous waste is disposed of properly. Old and broken appliances and equipment are removed from the waste stream and sent to a recycling facility.

"It's nice to get this recognition, as Trinitas has been on the forefront of environmental leadership for a very long time," noted Gary S. Horan, President and CEO of Trinitas. It should be noted that Trinitas was an early participant in recycling measures and other initiatives, such as the use of "green" cleaning products throughout the institution.
